Dear Paula,

At the Apple Learning Tour, you had an opportunity to explore a variety of apps and iTunes U content on iPad and iPod touch. iOS devices, loaded with apps and digital content, give students the ability to learn at their own pace and at any time and any location. Here are some resources if you’d like to learn more.

New in the App Store

Many new education apps have been added to the App Store in the last few weeks. Here are just a few that you won’t want to miss:

•   Rocket Math—a fun and engaging math game for practicing a broad range of math skills

•   Solar System for iPad—a stunning 3D guide to the solar system

•   Pearson Education—several new apps, including Vocabulary Central for grades 6–12; Grammar Jammers for grades K-8; and Beyond Textbooks, interactive games for learning American and World History

For more titles, check out the Back to School collection on the App Store.

App Store Volume Purchase Program

The App Store Volume Purchase Program allows educational institutions to purchase apps for iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch in volume and then distribute those apps to users. The Volume Purchase Program also allows app developers to offer special pricing for purchases of 20 apps or more.

Just Added iTunes U Content

In a little over three years, iTunes U has had over 300 million downloads and currently offers more than 350,000 audio and video files from universities and educational institutions in 26 countries. Recently added to iTunes U is outstanding content from Khan Academy that includes an ever-growing library of videos on everything from basic arithmetic to biology, providing a world-class education to anyone, anywhere.

Make sure to visit the Apple Learning Tour Resources web page to access a wide variety of helpful resources for both educators and IT professionals.
